ONIDIRI, HAIRDRESSING HISTORY

Graphic workshop, 2023
Union de la Jeunesse Internationale, Paris

Onidiri, meaning “the hair braider” in Yoruba, draws inspiration from traditional Nigerian hairstylists whose braids carry stories of collective culture. In this workshop, participants become “Onidiris” for a day, transforming history into graphic symbols and composing them into story-braids. A hands-on exploration of storytelling through hair, creativity, and cultural heritage.

Symbols created: Douda, Pride, Energy, Union, Dunk, Elevation.
